Here at Fitify we are all about maintaining balance. What better way than eating chocolate and getting a boost out of it!? :) Believe it or not, runners all over the world are being told that they SHOULD INCREASE their consumption of dark chocolate, all in an effort for them to become better runners as well as giving them a boost to their overall health and wellness.
Can you imagine that?
Doctors in the United States (and all over the globe) are telling runners to get their hands on more chocolate and enjoy it every day to unlock significant health benefits that also allow them to become a better and more well-rounded runner! Remember it’s all about moderation. :)
Here are some of the advantages you’re going to get access to when you increase your chocolate intake!
Dramatically reduce blood pressure
For starters, dark chocolate has been linked closely to dramatically reduced “bad” blood pressure levels. Multiple studies conducted by the Louisiana State University have helped to make this information more well-known and widespread, but a lot of people are still under the impression that dark chocolate is going to wreak havoc on the body.
Nothing could be further from the truth!
As a runner, you’re going to want to eat more dark chocolate to even out your blood pressure levels – especially if you are an endurance athlete.
Burn fat faster
Another beautiful thing about dark chocolate is that it transforms your body into a fat melting furnace.
Thanks to some of the “active compounds” in dark chocolate your body is going to increase its thermogenics. When that happens, you’re going to burn more fat sitting still than you ever did before – and when you combine that with a smart running program the sky is the limit as far as your body transformation journey is concerned.
Improve your cardiovascular health
Dark chocolate has also been closely linked to benefits as far as your cardiovascular health is concerned.
According to a study by University of Warwick, there are a number of enzymes inside of dark chocolate that work to strengthen your heart, improve your circulatory system, and more efficiently shuttle critical nutrients from one area of the body to another.
Reduce pain and elevate pleasure
You can’t deny that there is a lot of pleasure to get out of eating dark chocolate – and not all of that pleasure is just in your head!
Those same scientists at Louisiana State University mentioned above have also discovered a close link between consumption of dark chocolate and a release of endorphins in the brain that really elevate pleasure and reduce pain. This is especially important for long-distance runners that know exactly what it feels like when the human body “hits the wall” but you keep trying to push past it.
Grab yourself a dark chocolate bar and see how much of a better runner it makes you almost immediately!
